I hate DSL

When I move back to the States at some point, I will throw a party when I aquire cable internet connection again. We have DSL in the house and it sucks. Sometimes yes it will load pages fast but most of the time, it's slow and now my azureus has an issue w/the router. I, of course, don't know how to fix it and I doubt anyone here has the rounter username and password. the account might still even be on the name of people who lived here before us. I should find out if a contract still exists and then how much of a cost difference there is to have cable internet. Then again that is a lot of work and I know my friend has been waiting over 3 weeks to get the cable internet set up at her apartment. (There is no Dutch word for service.) I really wish I could just have my Home Movies/wine drinking pal come over or my SOD to fix it.

I finally have lamps. You have no idea how exciting this is. Now I don't feel like I live in cave. I can see! Hurray!

As for PhD route, I will apply to some abroad schools but also to several US schools that offer the chance to study abroad one year. Schools I am considering U of Texas-Austin, U of CA-Irvine, U of CA- Davis. All for cultrual studies. Harvard has a Center for Cultural Studies but no actual CS program...DAMN THEM. I am not interested in Duke at all no UNC-Chapel Hill--though it was fun visiting non the less.

I am becoming a better student again. Actually reading and note taking. Have I started my two papers/ No? Should I? Yes? Do I hate my current classes with the upmost disdain? Yes? Would I rather be crying through Research Stats course? Hell, yes

Anyways, next week I am going to Paris Thurs -Sun for a conference. I am quite excited and it will be a good lift to the spirits. I have a new American friend who is wonderful. The kind of person you meet and right away you know that you never want to lose contact with that person.

I really miss cheap Indian buffets. Like the one near my apt. I dream of you. And I really miss Lime Chips. They do no exist here. I have looked everywhere. Selection is crapola. Maybe I can find some in Paris.
