Fun with translations

"the only polishing substance which contains magic capsules of perfume"

I checked out my possible new room today....and nope. It was a nice house but the room was small (no surprise there) but it was on the same level as the owners. I was under the impression they lived on the first floor and the rooms were on second floor from the descriptions of it...Basically I just want a studio. I keep looking on a billion websites, okay maybe like 6, for rooms for Jan/Feb that would work out for me. No luck yet. I'm tempted to go the housing agency route to find a room. I know it would be quite the expense but I'm turning up empty. My place now wouldn't be that bad if: it wasn't 400 euros a month for what it is, if there were no mice (I've seen them several times just this weekend), if the landlord cared more about the property etc etc etc. I know some PhD students who rent from UCU but that is too far above my budget. It could be a fruitless dream of trying to find an affordable studio. I don't care if my new place is not in the city center. I don't mind the bike ride in. I;m just tired of waking up at night to hear the mice chewing on things.

I hope to find some cleaning job soon or something under the radar. More money for rent, more money for nice gym. I dream about fitness first. If only I could volunteer for membership! Blast!
My presentation about Sinterklass and its racist context went over quite well in class. Thank you semiotics! We had a pretty good discussion and I think Dutch who are my ageish feel the same way. It's people of older generations who deny that there is racist context. Think that it's completely neutral and harmless. That white people dressing up like the darkies, speaking poorly, acting goofy, kidnapping the bad kids to take them away to Spain is just....pshhhhh that can't mean anything at all. Appropriating the happy colonized? Of course not!
