Damn insomnia. It keeps me awake until like 2,3,4 am. Then I will wake up a few hours later and struggle to get back to sleep. Really throws off wanting to get a good night's rest so I can wake up by 8ish to start my day.
In other news, apparently the house next door to me is not any kind of help for the homeless place, but one targeted to drug addicts. They can go there for social services. Not sure if they sleep there too or if they have a needle exchange program. I've never been haraassed or anything. THe only thing that bothers me is the guy who's bedroom is also on the second floor like mine and on the otherside of the wall of me. Why? He has the most obnoxious laugh. THe kind of laugh that distracts you so you turn your music way up load, even if that is not condusive to studying, because if you hear him, you worry your eardrums will burst themsevles to stop the insanity. I cringe every time I hear him laughing.
It's funny though how I don't even feel that bothered by living next to drug addicts. Yet, if I was back home Im sure I would be worried and would not have even considered living in "that" neighborhood. Not so much funny ha ha you just watch your friend trip on the sidewalk but funny ha ha awkard silence while we evalutate our personal isms that we sometimes acknowledge. I guess I'm not bothered by it because well I don't see it. I don't see any violence related to drug crime or the evidence of drug use on the streets. Sure there are prostitues near by, but they are working in the windows two blocks over! At home, in my I grew up in the burbs and then moved to the cities college years frameset, I see such neighborhoods as being known for their violence and destruciton to the community around them. (like the Philips Neighborhood). But again those are places where drug deals go down ilegally and there's gang activity-not an agency to help people. Though agencies do exist in troubled neigborhoods.
What I also find strange about living here is the lack of diversity. Most of the people here (in the univeristy, shopping and living in the city center etc) are white. There are some neigborhoods that are known as the "multi cultural neighborhoods" that have strong communities of people of color. I imagine growing up here or moving here and being Black (of some country) is problematic. Hello zwarte piet! On that note, I found it quite "interesting" that debate about zwarte piet is considered a "threat" to Dutch tradition of Sinterkaas. That's silly talk! Of course when I happen to go down people's chimneys to deliver gifts not only does my face get black with soot but I also grow an afro and my lips turn into giant red lips. No racist/colonolist ideology at all. enough about that topic..
Sex sms commericals. WHY???? Can't they just be one channel? I used to be able to turn on tv and watch some crappy talk show rerun or conan o'brian reruns etc but here? Most of the channels I get play sex sms commerical from like 12 am until 6am. STOP. Also the commericals for ring tones. I have never seen such an abudance for ring tone commercials. They are obnoxious. I am glad though not to see any pharm commericals here though.
I apologize to friends who wish they could get personal emails from me, but hey there are a lot of you and I don't have time. Plus what I write here is what I would write to you. So when you read this just insert "Dear (say your name here)"before the first line. See this blog is just for you! However, I think I will need to punch certain friends in the arms for completely breaking off all contact with me. I don't expect weekly emails or letters or anything like that. But just well a response here and there is nice, bastards. :) Chances are though said friends are not reading this blog. So will the be surprised when we meet again and I greet their hug with a punch in the arm.
Time for sketti, my readers. Ciao.
